Portland Floor Pillow

I am so excited to say I am in an Art Gallery Fabric look book! When I saw the AGF Fanciful fabric line, I knew I needed to re make my Portland quilt pattern and turn it into a really awesome floor pillow! Well, AGF loved it well enough to include it. How exciting!

So naturally I wanted to make sure I could bring it to you! This pillow measures 25” x 25”. It is perfect for throwing on the floor and laying on while watching tv or sitting on while playing games at your coffee table with the kids or grandkids.

I used an envelope style backing for easy on and off and washing but if you prefer a zipper enclosure, you can easily adapt the pattern for this. This size works well for either stuffing your own pillow form using left over poly fluff or tiny cut up batting pieces (I love doing this with my left over tiny pieces of batting…more to come on this later) or using a euro pillow size form.

If you are not an email subscriber I highly recommend doing so. You will automatically receive my FREE Portland throw quilt pattern which you will need to complete the pillow cover. It gives color placement guides as well as a coloring sheet so you know exactly what colors you want to put where. So if you don’t have my Portland throw pattern you can always sign up for my newsletter when checking out for the pillow cover pattern. The button below will take you right to my shop where you can puchase it for the price of $0.00 or otherwise known as FREE ….. YAY! Just be sure to enter your email and make sure the box to subscribe is checked off (I will never give your email out to another party or use it in anyway other than to send information packed newsletters every few weeks).

I added tassels to the floor pillow to give it a bit more class (LOL, wink wink) but it is not necessary. You could even add pom pom edging if you wanted. Have fun with it! If you would like a tutorial on adding the tassels let me know!

To start I choose these AGF Fanciful fabrics. I’ll use SKU #’s for easy reference….

  • FNC 10102 (light pink/peach color) - 2 yards (background and backing)

  • FNC 10104 (dark yellow) - 1/4 yard

  • FNC 10105 (orange) - 1/4 yard

  • FNC 10106 (purple pink) - 1/4 yard

  • FNC 10100 (white) - 1/4 yard

I then completed the project by doing an envelope style backing. I do include some directions on how to do this in the free PDF extension pattern but it is by no means a very thorough guide/set of instructions. If you have the basic idea of what one is then it will probably be sufficient but if you are looking for more thorough instructions I recommend hitting up a google search!

Thank you everyone for all the support and I hope you enjoy this free bonus pattern! And let me know if you want that tutorial on putting in tassels or pom pom edging!
